It is the oyster farming subsidiary material for cling the oyster's spat.
Exactly, the Oyster's Spat cling and grow on the Scallop Empty Shell.
The Spats is a oyster's larva(a young oyster).
At the spawning season, when the oyster's sperm and ovum joined and are fertilized each other, after about two weeks external fertilization season, the oyster's larva has eyes and legs, become to the mature oyster.
At that time, the scallop empty shell in the seawater, the oyster's larva naturally cling on the oyster's shell, and it is the oyster's spats.
